Adopting healthy habits can lengthen life expectancy

People who regularly apply healthy habits in their daily routine can extend their lifespan for up to a decade. This is mainly due to the connection between health and well-being. Not only do people feel better physically, but those habits often have a positive impact on mental health too. This may also play a huge part in their happiness, relationships, and how productive they are on a day-to-day basis.

“There are so many healthy habits you can build into your daily routine” says Lindsay-Jane Vines, President of Thane UK and North America. “Different habits work for different people, but regular exercise at home – even just 15 minutes a day – is one of the most important ways that you can make an immediate impact on your health.”

TV home shopping retailer Thane UK has put together a list of 10 healthy habits to encourage people to be healthier and happier.

Tune up your mind and body for the warm weather

Get a better night’s sleep

This one might feel easier said than done, but the difference an extra hour’s sleep can make is significant. According to experts, an adult is recommended to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. For better sleep, people should give themselves at least half an hour of device-free time before going to bed and trying to wake up naturally without an alarm in the morning.

Cut down the sugar

Everyone likes a sweet treat now and again, but sugar has all sorts of nasty effects on the human body. Not all sugars are bad and therefore swapping sweets for a healthier alternative like fruits can make the body will feel a whole lot better.

Switch off your phone

Smartphones are helpful when it comes to being organised in life, but they can start to control it too. It is good for everyone’s mental health to switch off every now and then, ideally an hour before bedtime. Also, it is crucial that people avoid going on their phones first thing in the morning, as studies have shown it can limit how productive their day will be.

Exercise regularly

Exercising regularly isn’t just good for your physical health, it’s good for your mental wellbeing too. Any exercise which gets you a bit out of breath and sweaty, blood pumping, is good. And you don’t even have to leave the house to do it. The Thane range of home exercise equipment offer lots of ways you can keep your body healthy.
